Brief FAQ

Why might you need access to my unlocked device?

Access to the unlocked device may be needed to test the screen, cameras, speakers, sensors, charging functions and other repaired components before and after service. For some iPhone screen repairs, information from the original display may also be transferred to the replacement screen to preserve features such as True Tone when supported.

iPlayPower is licensed and insured. I access only the settings and functions necessary to diagnose the problem and verify the completed repair. Personal photos, messages, email and unrelated applications are not reviewed.

1. Before service, back up important information whenever possible. An iPhone can be backed up through iCloud or to a computer using Finder, Apple Devices or iTunes, depending on the computer and operating system. Android customers can use Google’s built-in backup options.

2. You may decline to provide a passcode. However, iPlayPower may be unable to complete full pre-repair and post-repair testing. Any functions that cannot be tested will be documented at check-in. If the device must later be reopened for an issue that could not be evaluated during the original appointment, an additional diagnostic, adhesive or seal-replacement charge may apply under the Terms of Service.

What type of iPhone back-glass replacement will be installed?

Back-glass replacement options vary by iPhone model. iPlayPower may use aftermarket rear glass without Apple branding or a used original housing when specifically offered. The exact replacement type will be disclosed before the repair begins.

Wireless charging should continue to function after back-glass replacement unless the charging coil, antenna or related components were damaged. If additional damage is discovered, I will contact you before performing extra work. New adhesive is installed during reassembly, but the original factory water-resistance rating cannot be guaranteed after the device has been opened or repaired.

"It’s Just the Glass". Can’t you replace just the glass and not the whole screen?

A smartphone display is more than a sheet of glass. The glass, touch layer, OLED or LCD panel, sensors and supporting components are bonded together as a display assembly. When the image, touch function or underlying panel is damaged, replacing the complete display is usually the safest and most reliable repair.

Modern iPhones use display-specific configuration and calibration data. When applicable, iPlayPower transfers or configures supported display information and tests True Tone, automatic brightness, touch response and proximity-sensor operation after installation.

An LCD replacement installed on a phone originally designed for OLED may have lower contrast, different brightness, thicker construction and higher power consumption. Premium Soft OLED generally provides a closer match to the original display.

Why Should I Repair My Broken Phone?

Repairing a damaged phone is often less expensive and more convenient than replacing it. A professional repair can extend the device’s useful life, preserve its resale value and reduce unnecessary electronic waste. Many common repairs can also be completed without the inconvenience of transferring accounts, applications and personal settings to another phone.
